A tour of our apartment

Here they are folks, the long-awaited photos of our apartment! This is only our second home-by-ourselves since we got married.

Here is a view of the front door and the shoe-cupboard. The red trolley is something we’ve been borrowing off some friends to go shopping with. Although this actually looks really bright, it’s really dark here, I just took the photo using a high ISO.

Next up is the view from the shoe-cupboard, looking into the apartment. The door on the right is to the storage room where all the apartment owners junk is. The pile of stuff in front of the door is stuff we don’t want to use and when the owner visits next we’ll put it in the junk-room. The door on the left (with the hand) is the bathroom and the door to the right of the fridge is the spare room.

As you can see, the bathroom is pretty small. I will be posting again about the bathroom within the next few days.

The kitchen is also incredibly small. So much so that you can see we have to store stuff on the floor! Cathryn is keen to get an oven and do some baking. So far we’ve looked in a few places, but it seems that the options here a limited. An electric oven the size of a microwave. costs about 1000RMB.

Our living room, from the perspective of the fridge is next. The plan is to put a kitchen table behind the back of the first lounge chair you see here. At the moment we eat all our meals from the coffee table.

Next is the spare room, looking from the door to the balcony. The balcony has the washing machine and clothes line. Due to the dust and pollution here, hanging stuff outside for any extended period of time will probably make it dirtier than it was before you washed it!

And now looking back from the window. This room will have to be a bit better organised as tomorrow we have a guest coming!

Finally, we have the master bedroom, looking from the door, and then from in front of the wardrobe. I’m not sure if the little light in the bed-head works. Haven’t been able to figure that one out yet!
